Toni Kroos identifies Real Madrids problems this season

first_imgGerman midfielder Toni Kroos, offered an interview in which he opened up about Real Madrid’s biggest problems from the start of the season. Now that Real Madrid appears to have recovered from the terrible start of the season they had under manager Julen Lopetegui, midfielder Toni Kroos spoke freely about the reasons behind this level drop in Los Blancos during an interview with ‘Die Welt’.The main factor appears to be a physical conditioning that the players didn’t have by the start of the season, Julen Lopetegui brought his very own therapist and he left Antonio Pintus on the sidelines, the physical guru that kept all the Real Madrid players fit during the last three seasons.Every single year has been the same for Los Blancos, they start the season slow and sometimes even give up La Liga very early in the competition but they eventually recover well-enough to fight again for the Champions League trophy. But this season without Pintus or Zidane for that matter, things seemed to be going differently because Julen Lopetegui didn’t understand how the dynamic of these players worked. It didn’t take long for president Florentino Perez to realize that Julen wasn’t the man for the job and he decided to sack him in order to give Santiago Solari a chance as the interim manager.Kroos: “Por supuesto que tuvimos algunos problemas y regalamos demasiados puntos en la primera mitad de la temporada en la Liga. Sin embargo, siempre supe que teníamos un equipo de primera. Todavía tenemos la oportunidad de ganar títulos”.— Arancha Rodríguez (@AranchaMOBILE) January 29, 2019While the Argentine manager was also dragging all the negative energy from the last boss, he did understand that bringing Pintus to the front of the whole operation was essential and the players would need a couple of months to get back into rhythm. Now after a few months have passed, things don’t seem to have turned up so bad as they are still alive in Copa del Rey and they are not so far away from La Liga’s top contenders Barcelona (only 10 points). The players still hadn’t talked about the reason behind this massive change of dynamic, but Toni Kroos did offer an interview to German publication ‘Die Welt’ and explained what the whole process has been like under the new manager. All the players seem to be in a good dynamic now, they have no doubts that they will fight for trophies by the end of the season and they even still hold a beacon of hope to fight for La Liga when the time comes to play the important matches during the final months of the competition.Toni Kroos is a perfect example of how far along the squad has come with this new regime, he started the season in very poor form and now things are vastly different only by looking at his latest performances with the club.Toni Kroos vs. Espanyol:90 Minutes113 Touches (most)85/88 Passes6/8 Long Balls96.6% Pass Accuracy (highest)6 Crosses (most)4 Tackles (most)3 Shots3 Key Passes3 Times Fouled (most)1 Interception1 Clearance 1 Dribble1 Aerial Duel WonSergio Ramos, Real MadridZidane reveals Sergio Ramos injury concern for Real Madrid Andrew Smyth – September 14, 2019 Zinedine Zidane has put Sergio Ramos’ availability for Real Madrid’s trip to Sevilla next weekend in doubt after withdrawing him against Levante.Glad he’s back— RMadridHome (@RMadridHome_) January 29, 2019“The secret lies in not making too many mistakes. Every victory fills the whole squad with confidence in ourselves, you get good sensations…” said Kroos during the interview.“We never stopped working hard, even when things didn’t go our way and we made a lot of mistakes. We had some problems and we have given away too many La Liga points during the first half of the season, but that’s in the past now.”“It is very important having someone who can physically take us to a top level of performance, but this is not as easy as it sounds during the season because you can’t have the more traditional type of preparation due to the tight calendar.”“Antonio Pintus has been here all along, but he may have had a slightly bigger influence with Zidane than he did with Lopetegui, who brought his own physical therapist.”“The most important thing now is that some players are in much better shape than during the first half of the season.”“We still have two competitions to worry about and that’s our main focus, because we still have chances to win titles this season.”“After the Club World Cup, it wasn’t the ideal time to have closure with anything or making an evaluation because we were still right in the middle of the season.”“This whole year has been very much like a footballer’s life, with ups and downs, that’s what makes it so interesting,” he concluded.⚽🎯 ¡Diana!🇩🇪 @ToniKroos 🇫🇷 @Benzema📍 #RMCity— Real Madrid C.F.⚽ (@realmadrid) January 22, 2019Which trophies do you think Real Madrid still has a chance of winning this season?
