Tournament play will begin Thursday, March 12 at the Leonard E. Merrell Center in Katy, Texas.Texas A&M-Corpus Christi secured the outright regular-season championship with a 58-47 win at home Saturday against Houston Baptist, bringing its record to 17-3 in conference play. The Islanders have solidified their first Southland Conference championship in program history and have nabbed the No. 1 seed at the ensuing tournament, resulting in a double-bye and an automatic berth in the semifinal round.Tournament play begins Thursday at 11 a.m. CT with No. 5 New Orleans taking on No. 8 Southeastern Louisiana. No. 6 Nicholls will then take the court against No. 7 UIW in a 1:30 p.m. tipoff. Day two opens up Friday morning at 11 a.m. with the winner of game one taking on No. 4 Sam Houston State, followed by the game four matchup between No. 3 Abilene Christian and the winner of Wednesday’s game two. Saturday’s semifinal action begins with the No. 1 Islanders squaring off against the winner of game three. Shortly after, No. 2 Stephen F. Austin will face Friday’s game-four winner. Sunday’s championship will tip off at 1 p.m. on CBS Sports Network.
