Don’t forget about the wind-energy project job fair today at Raymond Frye

first_imgWorkers are being sought to help with construction on a wind-energy project near Geuda Springs. Minnesota-based Mortenson Construction will host a job fair Friday, Aug. 7 at the Raymond Fry Complex, 320 N. Jefferson, in Wellington. The job fair is from 8 to 10 a.m., 2 to 4 p.m. and again at 6 to 8 p.m.Those looking for work are asked to apply in person that day.Project managers said they are looking for millwrights, iron workers – structural, riggers, laborers, rough terrain forklift operators, NCCCO Certified rough terrain hydraulic crane operators and experienced extendable boom forklift operators. Located near Geuda Springs the Slate Creek Wind Project will consist of 75 wind turbines. The project marks the 26th wind project Mortenson will construct for California-based, EDF Renewable Energy and the fifth project to be built in Kansas.Preliminary work began earlier this year and the project could be completed by December. Mortenson is responsible for the construction of the access roads, foundations, operations and maintenance building, erecting of turbines and underground electrical collection system.  Approximately 150 new jobs will be created during the peak construction of the Slate Creek Wind Project which will provide power for approximately 45,000 homes, per year, upon completion, according to trade reports.Follow us on Twitter.
