Responsibilities include building facultyrelationships, performing technology assessments, marketing, salesand licensing.Specific Duties &ResponsibilitiesEstablish and maintain positive relationships withfaculty.Buildsindustry relations with companies with the intention of creatingcollaborations and JHU technologylicenses.Reviewsinvention disclosures to identify commercial product scenarios andtheir unique features andbenefits.Evaluates themarket potential of inventions, including market size and dynamics,the market need addressed by the invention, its competitiveposition and barriers to entering themarketplace.Determines aninvention’s current stage of development and its future developmentpath.Recommends atechnology transfer path for new inventions (e.g., patent, waiverights, assign rights toinventors).Collaborateswith IP Management Group, Inventor and IP counsel to develop IPprotection strategy.Engages withcompanies to determine their needs. Communicate identified needs tofaculty to help them understand where their research fits withthese identifiedneeds.Performstargeted marketing/sales to companies; qualifies potentiallicensingopportunities.Drafts andnegotiates license and other related contracts, such as optionagreements, stock purchase agreements and collaborationagreements.MinimumQualificationsAn advanced degree in science, business or law isrequired. Candidate will have a working knowledge of the technologylicensing process, marketing, patent management and the negotiationof license agreements that is typically gained through a minimum ofone (1) year of related licensing or technology transferexperience.PreferredQualificationsPhD, or combination of degree in science with an MBAor JD, strongly preferred.
