Update: Taiwanese company HTC on Thursday launched its flagship phone of the year, the HTC 10 in India. Globally launched on April 12, the ’10’ is HTC’s answer to Samsung’s Galaxy S7 (and S7 Edge) and LG’s G5. HTC’s latest One-range phone comes sans the One (as well as the ‘M’) moniker and is simply called the HTC 10. The HTC 10 is ailing HTC’s answer to the Galaxies and the G5s of the world. After failing to make an impression with its previous flagship phone, the company will be looking to make a comeback and set cash counters ticking. About time, we say! Whether or not the HTC 10 would end up being the ticket to fame (redemption mostly) that it needs oh so badly is yet to be seen.For now, here’s everything to know about the new HTC 10, the latest and greatest phone from the Taiwanese tech giant.Design and build quality The HTC 10 has a full-metal unibody with distinct chamfers. The front boasts of Corning’s Gorilla Glass 4. Speaking of design, the HTC 10 is a mashup beteween the One A9 and the company’s One line-up of phones. It comes with front mounted fingerprint scanner and USB Type-C port for charging and data syncing. HTC 10 Lifestyle is the one that should be coming to India. There is however no confirmation from the company on this yet. Both the variants support expandable storage of up to 2TB via microSD card.Camera The HTC 10 sports a 12-megapixel (UltraPixel) camera on the rear with f/1.8 aperture, laser autofocus, Optical Image Stabilisation and dualLED flash. The rear camera further supports RAW format and 4K video recording. The phone also has a 5-megapixel camera on the front with f/1.8 aperture, autofocus, Optical Image Stabilisation and a screen flash.Audio The HTC 10 supports BoomSound Hi-Fi with Dolby Audio. Fast charging is supported. Wireless charging isn’t.Additionally The HTC 10 supports Apple’s AirPlay wireless audio streaming format out-of-the-box which means it will be able to stream audio to Apple certified speakers as well as Apple TV.Pricing and availability The HTC 10 has been priced at Rs 52,990 in India. The phone will be available for buying from June 5 and the first 500 customers will receive free Ice View case with the phone.
