WWE: Samoa Joe wins Fatal 5-Way, faces Brock Lesnar at Great Balls of Fire for Universal Championship

first_imgSamoa Joe overcame the odds to win the Fatal 5-Way at Extreme Rules and became the No.1 contender for Brock Lesnar’s Universal title at RAW’s exclusive Pay-per-view WWE Great Balls of Fire.Joe got the better of Finn Balor, Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns and Bray Wyatt to earn his title shot.In an exciting match where everybody got their moments to shine, Joe and Wyatt looked the most destructive. The pair formed a partnership, hammering the other three at will to take an advantage. However, the deadly partnership didn’t last long enough as they started trading blows once the other three were cleared off.Balor, Rollins and Reigns held their own and made strong comebacks once the barrage was over and each had their moments.Ultimately, Joe did the smart thing when he choked Balor off after the Irishman had nailed Reigns with a Coup De Grace and won via referee stoppage. This is Joe’s first title shot in the main roster since making his debut on RAW earlier this year. The Samoan submission machine came out of the blues and blasted Rollins and injured him when the latter was challenging Triple H for a match at Wrestlemania.Since then, Joe has worked with Hunter and there has been indications of him working with Triple H and Kevin Owens to form a deadly faction like Evolution in the earlier part of the 2000s. However, that fizzled out as Owens moved to Smack Down Live in a superstar shake-up and since then Joe has been competing and winning in singles matches.advertisementThe WWE is providing Joe with a big push and it works out well for the company because by the looks of it, Joe can match up to Lesnar in terms of strength and can put up a good match. It won’t be easy for the ‘Beast Incarnate’ as he has not featured much since beating Goldberg at Wrestlemania 33 for the title. The two will slog it out on July 9 at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas.”I am more than prepared to take myself to that very deep, dark, violent place…” – @SamoaJoe on challenging @BrockLesnar #RAWTalk pic.twitter.com/NFKF5lE5ul- WWE (@WWE) June 5, 2017last_img read more
